Venkaiah Naidu becomes the next Vice President of India


The party offices of the Bhartiya Janta Party were in festival mood as there loyal party man and member of the party Venkaiah Naidu become the 15th Vice President of India.His winning was a cherry on the cake for BJP because a day before the party had become the single largest party in the Rajya Sabha for very first time.I am very humbled. I am also thankful to the Prime Minister and all party leaders for their support. I will seek to utilise the vice-presidential institution to strengthen the hands of the president and secondly uphold the dignity of the Upper House,” Naidu said after his emphatic victory.

68 Years old naidu will take oth as the vice president of India on 11 august at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.After the election resluts were announced and venkaiah's victory was known Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted:'Wishing Naidu a fruitful and motivating tenure'

Prime Ministers later vistited the Naidu at his residence with the party president Amit Shah.Venkaiah Naidu won 516 of the total 771 votes polled in the electoral college which is 786 member strong.The opposition's candidate Gopalkrishna Gandhi got 244 votes out of the 771 votes polled.

Naidu got 67% of the total votes polled in the election which had witnessed a total of 98% polling.As Naidu is from andhra pradesh it is expected that the ruling party will get support during the debated from the south parties such as AIADMK,TDK,YSR congress.Naidu was known for his one liners,it remains to be seen as how naidu will settle to his new role of vice president.Naidu as told that he is no longer a party men,another leader said that he is confident of naidu being a fair chairperson.

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu,India's No.1 goalkeeper has been signed by the new entrants of the Indian Super League Bengaluru FC. Gurpreet has become the first indian player to be signed by a indian club for a transfer fee from a european club. Gurpreet annouced his new journey with the Bengaluru side through twitter.
