Gurpreet Singh Sandhu leaves Stabæk FC for Indian side Bengaluru FC


Gurpreet Singh Sandhu,India's No.1 goalkeeper has been signed by the new entrants of the Indian Super League Bengaluru FC.

Gurpreet has become the first indian player to be signed by a indian club for a transfer fee from a european club.

Gurpreet annouced his new journey with the Bengaluru side through twitter.

Gurpreet said that the lack of game time with his former club Stabæk fc made him leave the Norway club early and sign for the indian side.Gurpreet had his contract with Stabæk till deceber 2017.

"I'm extremely delighted to have signed for Bengaluru FC. While the experience of playing in Europe was fantastic, lack of game time was an important factor in making the decision of moving back to India. I had an offer from another top-flight club in Europe, but the need to play regularly ahead of the AFC Asian Cup in 2019 was something that was on my mind," said gurpreet to the media.

"The fact that Bengaluru FC was interested in me was encouraging considering what they have achieved over the last few years. With BFC playing on the continental level this season as well as the next one, it will provide the perfect platform for me," he added.

Gurpreet will be available for the upcoming AFC cup match against North Korean side April 25 Sports club as well as the Indian Super League which will start from 17th of November.Sandhu will be missing the Tri nation cup that will be held in mumbai from 19th of august as he will be busy playing for his club in the AFC cup.

Gurpreet has been extremly effective for the Indian National Team's historic rise to 96th position in the FIFA rankings.Gurpreet hasn't let through a goal in his past three matches for India.
